Muffler Specs
I am looking to buy a Flowmaster Muffler. I heard the fourty series sounds best if you still have the stock 4.3L six in it. I have not had the chance to look up the piping on my muffler, ie. sizing, offsets/centers, inlet/outlet sizing. I know i seem like an idiot, but what are the specs on the stock mufflers? And does any one know where i can find a high flow catalytic converter?

Re: Muffler Specs
Check with www.summitracing.com or www.jegs.com for high flow cats. I use a Catgo cat on my truck. Sounds very nice and even better when hollow. Hollowed by accident.
![]() The 40 series on a V-8 is nice. I'm not so sure on a 4.3. |

Re: Muffler Specs
Go With the 50 series. The smaller your engine, the quieter you want your muffler. 50 series arent too quiet though, they've got a nice growl. Check out my sig for clips. BTW, the clips are after i first put it in and before it was "broken in." It sounds even better now.

Re: Muffler Specs
Cool clips. How is the sound at highway speeds.
After seeing the clips, I would install a 50 series. The exhaust on my 96 is still stock. So next year, its out the door!! Highway speed noise probably won't matter since the stereo will be thumping!! |

Re: Muffler Specs
Highway noise isn't bad at all unless you're passing with your foot on the floor. I'm thinking about getting QuietCar undercoating to smooth out the ride a bit. Not because of the muffler though. ROAD NOISE
