modding my 95
ok so heres the deal. my 95's got 160,000 on the clock. was getting ready to sell it. the doors been dented. mechanically its been a dream. replaced a couple parts, but the motor runs still real strong. last week i was doing the speed limit on a back road and hit some ice and went sideways, into a bank, spun back around and smashed into a telephone pole backwards. ****ed the front end, and destroyed my back bumper. all it did mechanically was knock it way out of line. thats fixed. what do i do from here?
heres what im thinking. do the front end conversion to newer style (any suggestion for exact year or option on that?) do a body color front end. get some mesh insterts and paint em black. get the black HID halo headlights to go with that. i already have the SS bowtie. i wish there was a valance out there that looks good on a 4x4(any suggestions?) I have a hitch and custom exhaust so a roll pan is out for the back. i guess ill just get a NOS rear bumper. or should i push the factory parts back into place and say **** it? is this thing gonna run out of steam soon anyway? whats the most mileage you've heard of for a TBI 4.3? always maintained. oil and air filters and that. i cant sell it now its too beat up. but damn it runs so good. this post is way to ****ing long. srry. lol. blazers make u crazy. |

Re: modding my 95
Your 95 is not the exact same engine as the 96 and up Blazers.
95s had a different intske, problem & recalls went with it, they changed in 96. Since you've gone so long with out any problems, yours probally was a good one. 95-97 rear bumpers > 98+ rear bumper The 98+ bumper have the ugly step down. The 95-97 bumpers hasve a smooth top and are just nicer looking. If you want to update the the 98+ front end, you'll need to get a new radiator support, grill, lights, brackets, wiring, etc.....fairly simple swap. There are several threads detailing it in the Body section of the forum. As for a good valence on a 4x4, I also think the regular stock 4x4 valence is perfect. Here's my 96 with a 98 bumper and 4x4 valence. I put driving lights in the tow hook holes. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...uez/CSI/a5.jpg |

Re: modding my 95
96 blazer that is sweet lookin. same color as mine. i was roaming my local junkyard and was lucky enough to find a blazer freshly unloaded. 97 though. so headlights werent gonna work unless i took the core and i didnt have enough time. for w/e reason this thing had a chrome bumper. like fully. that replaced my messed up black one perfectly. I think im gonna go close to what you have there. chrome grill and regular 4x4 valance. im with you guys on the valance part. i might do body color grill and valance. wonder if that'll look cheapish on a 4x4?
and out of all the rear bumpers i agree 95ish just looks more clean. wish i could find a chrome rear bumper. that'd look sweet. i see chrome paint at auto zone. i bet that crap is useless. |

i just got screwed on parts claimed to be in new condition on ebay. damnit. first bad exp too. either way now i have a 95 with a cracked grill, chrome bumper, no valance, beat up tailgate and pushed in rear bumper, and dented door. looks bad and with gas rumoring running up to $4 in Pa this summer... probably gonna park it and run my 90 chrysler new yorker. only gonna save $30 a month in gas. 30 bucks is 30 bucks tho....
