Re: Mass air flow screen
The consequences far outweigh the benefits. You're not making enough power to even notice a difference. Leave it alone

Re: Mass air flow screen
to answer your first ?, i did mine a while back, and my butt dyno didnt notice a bit of a difference... and idk about the programmer but if i was you i'd just send it in to like Wait 4 Me Performance or something like that and get it custom tuned to your specs, and tell them what your looking for. You will notice more of a power gain that way.

Re: Mass air flow screen
I descreened the MAF on my Xtreme when I put a cold air intake on it. If you unbolt the ends from it you can push the screen out and not worry about damaging the MAF wires. I also removed the screen from the MAF on my SS Camaro. It does flow more air providing your intake can give it. It will lean out your air/fuel mixture some. Generally vehicles run on the rich side from the factory anyways. I've used several Hypertechs and they do help some, but mostly in firming up the shifts and changing shift points if you have an automatic. I haven't noticed a huge power increase from them.

Re: Mass air flow screen
I agree with the www.wait4meperformance.com ECM upgrade. I did it to my Jimmy. I gained about ~1 MPG in the city and two on the highway. The tranny shiftsa are great. It can rev all the way up to 5000 rpms before shifting gears.
