Many questions and first post.
Is there a walk-through for OEM defroster install? I searched many word combos, but turned up nothing useful.
My mom bought a 95 blazer that's so bottom base model that I can't believe it has a heater core, back seat and 4x4. It's really stripped. She seeks a rear hatch door with defroster, wiper, washer and matching maroon color. Well I FOUND ONE!! However, I popped off some plastics and peeled back the headliner to find no open-ended plugs ready for an easy plug-n-play install. So I ask, will I have to install my own wires to make this happen? I have the stock control panel from a 96. I cry when it comes time to wire something that isn't a simple 4 wire/4 speaker stereo deck ![]() ![]() Another issue I can't find through search, which this problem is kind of random... A drunk mexican in a ford taurus wagon rear ended my volvo, which rear ended my mom's blazer, which rear ended my 300zx. The volvo and taurus are history milliseconds before the driver is. The rear bumper on the blazer managed to survive, but the rubber and foam bumpers on the Z did a number on the blazer's front bumper caving in the license plate, bracket and whole bumper piece. It needs an impact beam only, but apparently those are very hard to find outside a whole set, which I don't want or need. I'm also wondering if I can get away with only the bumper beam and skin from a 98 Bravada. As in cover the old stock bent bumper and it not look ghetto. OR can I get a 1996 color-matched bumper (I don't know if it's a 1 piece or a skin) and fit it onto non-composite headlight type? I really don't want to do the whole front convo as in headlights, grill, etc. Just front, and rear bumpers. Here is the style of headlight. The grill is a dull black...kinda like primer. http://images.safeform.com/reviews/images/96blazer.jpg Here is the blazer I can rob parts from (at least its in craigslist for parts) http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...nzy/blazer.jpg It looks to be the same style as a prior gen2 s-10 I had as well as mym mom's 95 blazer, but there are so many, I can't assume anything. We've been searching and searching only to turn up $240 shipping for a full front from someone in PA off ebay. LOL! I'm really pressing to get this done by Christmas time and I should've registered/searched for an S-10 forum earlier. ANY help is appreciated!!!! p.s. if anyone has the items I seek local to Portland, OR, I'd be more than happy to check them out. |

Re: Many questions and first post.
anyhoot, where the license plate bolts up. That beam. It's the old-crusty first model of the second gen s-10 blazer. The U-shaped bumper beam got caved in enough so it can't be bent back. Im in lunch break, so no time for pictures. |

Re: Many questions and first post.
Funny thing, I work at a junkyard and they have only wrong colored ones and bravada 98+. yay for my useless work.
I few years ago I bought some aftermarket china shitty pieces from a member on ebay named shelbyspapa who blatantly lied to me saying they're a direct fit, perfect and will arrive in a wood box.....lamp shade box, (destroyed), didn't fit at all and wouldn't help me on anything at all. Replied to one email and left it alone to this day. What a chump. It's just the beam I need. Theres no cover at all, but this 1998 bravada front would look killer, but I don't want to spend $50 on it to find it won't work. The blazer needs to be up and running at any time. ugg ![]() |

Re: Many questions and first post.
Yes, wildman ss, that's the one! Good lookin front, too.
K Dawg knows, too!! I have access to a bravada bumper and cover, but I don't want to buy it and have to bring it back and have to put the old busted bumper back on. Has anyone tried the beam and cover from bravada on 94 model s-10 blazer with the lame sylvania type headlights? |

Re: Many questions and first post.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i2...r-portrait.jpg you could also go with a 98+ bumper and valance the 98+ are a one piece instead of 3 and they look a lot better I've never seen a bravada bumper with the sealed beams but my friend has one on his newer front end s10 |

Re: Many questions and first post.
I guess it was the black emblem that makes it look good. hah looks better in that second picture
![]() Well I think I might have to try this bravada bumper out. I know how to use zip ties, notch holes and have friends that know how to make this work and make it look good at the same time. My whole goal is to get color matching bumpers, but the dude thats parting out the blazer (flakey dealership) never responded...typical craigslister treatment ![]() So anybody know about the defroster/wiper/washer upgrade? Anyone here done it? |

Re: Many questions and first post.
Well since I can't get a confirmed answer, I'll have to try it myself.
Brought this thing home today and prolly work on it sunday. Looks direct fit, but may have a huge gap between the grill and cover ![]() We'll see! ![]() |

Re: Many questions and first post.
It should fit no probs as long as you got the rebar with the cover. The 97 and older rebar/impact beams wont fit on the 98+ covers (well, prolly with some Macguiver-ing they will, lol)

Re: Many questions and first post.
Sure as shit fits great. Theres 2 lips (lol no pun) that go behind the bravada headlights that needed removing.
Cut them off and it fit absolutely beautiful. One thing tho...Didn't think about bumper mounted signals. No problem. Don't put em back in! The headlight markers flash and turn on for night-time driving. They're lame like the rear lights that don't have separate flasher and brake light. All in 1. Cuts brake light and starts flashing. I always hated that about the domestics. Anyways heres you go ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is some of the ugly, but will be fixed. Just needed less of a crap-hauler look. The mom is self conscience about that sortta stuff. ![]() |

Re: Many questions and first post.
Glad everything worked out for you frenzy!
Now, paint the bumper, get clear turn signals (cheap off of eBay...under $10), get the factory chrome grill (cheap when used off this form...hey, dont you work at a wreckers?) and remove the bug deflector and youll have yourself a really nice daily driver! Lights: ![]() Grill (in this one, you can see the added a billit grill too): |
