Loose shifter handle?

Did a search and didn't find anything, so forgive me if this has been covered..

The handle on my console shifter is slightly loose, not enough to mess with the shifter engagemant or anything, just enough to be annoying. After looking it over briefly, I'm stumped as to how to tighten this thing back up. Is there a way to get the boot off the shifter without reomving the entire top half of the center console? I'm assuming after feeling around the handle a little bit that there's a allen keyhole or something, around the little "ring" at the bottom of the handle, but that too is covered by the boot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx.

Re: Loose shifter handle?

I think the handle part is fastened to the shifter rod by a c-shaped retaining clip that is put in from the front side of the shifter handle. Yous is probably not in there anymore. (Pull straight up on the shift knob and see if it comes off to check.)
