Looking to buy a 98-01ish Jimmy or Envoy

Alright Ive had lowered s-series all my life but never had a 4x4 or suv s-series. My 96 2wd ext cab sonoma was totaled a couple weeks ago and Im shopping for a new daily driver. I think what I really want is an envoy but they are a little difficult to locate and Im gonna be a little picky when it comes to color of ext., color of int., and a couple options. The only things the envoy seems to have that I prefer over the jimmy is the HID's, and bumper cover. When it comes to looking at a Jimmy it has to have the sunroof/moonroof, 4x4, 4 door, dark interior and absolutely no two tone exteriors. Id also prefer it to be fairly loaded. Doesnt have to have everything but atleast the basics.

Basically tell me why you picked your truck and/or talk me into or out of looking for an envoy cause its kind of a pain in the butt. Ive found three envoys lately, one has higher mileage than Id like to have, one has tan interior which Id prefer not to have, and the other has 4x4 issues(supposedly electrical) and is over 2hours away. Im about to give up and just look for a reg. Jimmy as they are way more plentiful.

Thanks guys, lets hear some opinions.

I've owned 1 4wd, you're not missing anything imo.

There was a slightly dropped 4dr around here that I liked so I just started looking around for a good deal, I found mine stock and slightly wrecked w/ a clean title on ebay and bought it for $1,000. I love how much room it has in the back once the back seats are folded down, how it's really easy to get in the back seats, comfort. Also how it's getting 21mpg right now.

One of my grandparents vehicles is a stock 98 4wd 4dr, rides like a pos compared to mine and gets a lot worse mpg too.

Re: Looking to buy a 98-01ish Jimmy or Envoy

Im sick of not being able to get around in the winter. Granted the winters in stl are not bad but I was stranded 4 days in my sonoma with a 4/6 drop this past winter. My road and subdivision really suck. Being a single guy living by myself I cant justify having two vehicles so a winter beater doesnt work. Gas mileage shouldnt be a huge issue for me either. Fortunately for me, I drive 6 miles to work, and thats round trip. lol My drive is 35mph or less the whole way, no hwy. In the long run my 2.2 didnt really save me much money in gas. I also want more room for passengers while still having plenty of space for my stereo system, my ext cab didnt allow that.

Thanks for the reply your 2wd fourdoor looks sharp with the zq8's, keep it coming guys.

Re: Looking to buy a 98-01ish Jimmy or Envoy

I have a 99 Envoy, When I bought it I had to replace all the front end ball joints, links, idlers, etc.

I Like the power everything leather drivers seat ( I'm tall).
The 4 wheel drive works very well in the winter.
Has good interior room.
Cool on board rear compressor/ air shocks.
Tows light loads well.

Dis-like the passenger front seat dosent go back far enough ( however not a real prob since I'm not in it very often).
Hate the loud banging ride on rough surfaces, however when I have a full load it's not near as bad.
The interior squeaks and rattles suck.
Bad in city mileage, highway is ok.

Thank u sir. I may have my vehicle situation figured out though. Didnt get exactly what I wanted but pretty happy. While looking for jimmys/envoys I stumbled across a 99 blazer with only 56k miles. Went to look at it last Saturday with cash in hand, agreed on a price($4900) but he finds out from his partner that the title hasnt showed up yet. Tells me he will have the title Monday so I gave him $100 bucks to just hold it and secure my interest in it. Monday comes and he checks on the title and they tell him it will be Thursday/Friday. He called me and told me if I wanted to I could still pick it up Monday and just pay him the remaining $4800 when the title shows up. So as of right now im in possession of 99 blazer w/56k miles for only a $100 lol

Didnt get my gmc front end or moonroof, but I got a really clean(never smoked in till I picked it up ) 99 black 4 door 4x4 blazer with dark charcoal/black interior. Has every option that I can think of besides moonroof, and leather. Also has brand new bridgestone duelers on it. When the title is in my hand I will wash it up and post some pics.
