Looking at buying this '95...

A local dealer (small time used car lot) that I've done business with a few times has got a '95 Blazer that I'm interested in. It needs some work, but it runs excellent. It has 147,000 miles on the clock of the 4.3 Vortec, but it does have some body damage issues. The price on the window is $1,950.00, but I think I can talk him down a couple hundred.

If I can get the pics to load, tell me what you think...

Re: Looking at buying this '95...

It obviously needs a headlight, fender, front bumper, front bumper end cap, grille, passenger's remote mirror, and a rear bumper end cap. The passenger's door window doesn't go up or down either. Everything else works... even the temp/direction display in the overhead console. And, there is no radio (which I don't care about).

So, is it worth anything or do you think I'd be getting screwed?

Re: Looking at buying this '95...

in my opinion i would go price out all the parts it needs and add it to the total of the vehicle. You might find it could be cheeper to just buy one in better shape. I had seen a 95 blazer going for $2595 needing new tires and ready for the road. So if i was in you shoes looking at that truck i would just go to your local dealer and price all the parts out. But at first glance from the pics doesn't look like a bad deal. If u could get the dealer down to around 1700 to 1800 then i would say go for it.

Re: Looking at buying this '95...

power mirror = $37.00
front fender = $70.00
bumper = $70.00
grille = $65.00
headlight = $40.00
rear end cap = $24.00
front end cap = $16.00
------------------------
Total in parts = $322.00

Prodvided that I buy completely new afermarket parts. I could save probably $100 by buying used. The work I'll do myself, my cousin does the paint work.

IF I paid the $1950 + the $322, that still only = $2272 Still a big savings over the $3000. Besides, I like to work on them

Re: Looking at buying this '95...

I bought my 95 S10 with 4.3 for 1600. It had a wrecked front end and a bent bumper bracket in the rear. The wrecked front end gave me the chance to go ahead and do the 2001 swap. I say go for it. Try and and talk em down a couple of hundred though

no no no, add a lot more to that price, you'd do a front end conversion on it.

Re: Looking at buying this '95...

I'd worry more about the 95 engine than the body.
Plus, the tranny has either been rebuilt or going to need it soon.
