Question Looking at a '96, have ????'s

I've been considering getting rid of the four vehicles I have and buying a newer model. Right now I'm looking at a '96 Tahoe with the 4.3 V6, auto, 4 door. I haven't driven it yet and I don't know the mileage on it, but the outside looks really good. I plan on taking it out for a spin on Monday afternoon.

What kinds of things should I be looking for that might be wrong or will go wrong on this model year? I've seen reports that by 60,000 miles the tranny will go out, the front braking system is inadequate, oil cooler lines leak, the engine suffers from excessive carbon build-up that causes an EGR valve problem, and ball joints get torn up more frequently than they should.

Anyone have any insight on these problems?

On a Tahoe (basically a full size blazer) I would go with nothing less than the 5.7. A 4.3 in a truck that weighs 1500-1700 pounds more than than an s10 blazer, that engine is gonna be like running a 2.8 in the blazer... It'll work, but you won't be happy. I mean, I love the full sizes, but you need to go with a v8... The mpg will be about the same as the 4.3 if not a little better.

That's what I'm thinking unless there were some fleet Tahoes equiped with them.

The fullsize Blazers were only 2 drs 4wds. When they changed the name to Tahoes, they added the 4drs.

Sorry for the confusion, I do mean the smaller Blazer.

Yeah, I sold my 98 4 door 2wd Tahoe with a 5/5 drop on 20"s last June and bought my Blazer and my wifes CR-V with the money. I sure do miss it though. All though I don't miss putting gas in it.

Re: Looking at a '96, have ????'s

Okay, after looking at this truck again, I made a mistake. It IS the S10 Blazer. I'm just used to seeing Tahoe LT on the side of my '93. Also, it's a '97, not a '96. So, can anyone offer any insight to the potential problems I might face with this vehicle?
