Long or short add-a-leaf?
The rear of my blazer is sagging it a 98 4dr 4wd. Just replaced a few parts up front dont think that it has anything to do with it. Should i do add-a-leafs or new spring? Or shackles? I am going to replace shocks as those need done. I am goign to crank the tbar after i get rear figured out. Thanks for the help.

Re: Long or short add-a-leaf?
if you put longer shackles in you will still have your shitty sagged springs, but your truck wont look sagged, Add-a-leafs would be better IMO since you will not be camouflaging your sagged weakened springs, but you will be adding strength back into the system. I would go add-a-leafs or new springs. I can see the add-a-leafs actually being better then the new springs simply because you will be adding more spring to take the weight of your truck, look at how long your stock springs lasted, 9-10 years, if you put a new set of springs in they will last only that long again before needing to be replaced, with add-a-leafs you could stretch that time longer, because your essentially making your springs stiffer.
The ride could be a little harder in the back, but you probably wont notice since its the rear of your truck. I don't know exact prices, but the shackles will prolly be cheaper, but not as good of a fix, Add-a-leafs will be cheaper then new springs...just remember you get what you pay for... |

Re: Long or short add-a-leaf?
you can get either for about the same price $60. I was leaning towards add-a-leafs. Now short or long? go on http://http://www.shop.synergyoffroad.com/main.sc they have the couple of different ones.

Re: Long or short add-a-leaf?
that link doesn't work... but I'm not entirely sure on the differences between the long and short add a leafs, other then the fact that the long ones are long and the short ones are short...lol
I would think for what you want out of them the long ones are going to support the area of spring that is sagged better then the shorts. The only leaf that is sagging in your truck the main leaf that actually has the mounting points on it. The rest of the pack is fine... I know this because I have a 95 blazer and the springs in the back are so sagged that the main leaf actually has a reverse arc to it at each end by the mounts... my 95 also has T-bars sagging but thats another story...lol The funny thing is both front a rear are sagged about equal so my truck still looks level...just the wheel gaps and camber on the front are off... speaking of T-bars, Be careful cranking those. It is a free way to get lift, but at the same time a free way to get you to break front half shafts on a regular basis, if you offroad it. And those cost about $70 a piece... This is IMO at any rate, like I said not sure on the advantages of the short or long add-a-leafs this is just from common sense thinking on my behalf... |
