keyless entry/BCM

Hi all,

I replaced the Body Control Module on my Bravada to fix the ever-annoying Passlock problems I was having.

The wonderful thing was that it worked! No more "security" light, no more failures to start, etc.

Unfortunately, my keyless entry no longer works...great. I thought maybe it was just a matter of reprogramming the remote to match the new BCM, but that does not seem to be the case.

Does the BCM have to be "programmed" to "know" that a vehicle has keyless entry or something? Maybe a feature that has to be somehow enabled? Both BCMs had the exact same part number, I can't imagine they are different hardware...

Anyway, if someone understands/knows how the keyless entry feature works I would appreciate it!

Re: keyless entry/BCM

did you plug the keyless entry FOB module back in that is mounted to the panel on the underside of the driverside dash?? its back behind the OBD 2 connector on top of the panel.

I have seen them need to be programmed, but not sure if that would cover the keyless entry.

Is that the only thing not working right?

Yeah, it is still there and plugged in, I actually never unplugged it - just the connectors to the BCM when it was replaced. I did double check though just to make sure they were still hooked up.

I have tried the programming sequence a few times (hold down driver's side lock, etc, etc) but it just acts like keyless entry is no longer there, very strange.

Yeah, I actually ordered a new remote thinking that was the issue, but still no luck. I remember a year ago or so I replaced the battery and went through the programming process with no issue, so I think it has to be something with the BCM.

A bit of net searching seems to indicate that the BCM has to be set up to enable keyless entry as a feature; I have yet to verify this but may take it to the dealer to find out.
