Key fob programming?

Well i just got hooked up on a set of key fob for my 01 blazer from my buddy at the chevy dealership, but im not sure how to program them to my truck, and i dont want to take it in there and pay $60 just to have them programmed i know its usually a simple process, can anyone help me out with this. and how do i check to make sure its the right fob?
