Just got a 97 Bravada! How should I do this..

So.. I got rid of my old car for a bravada and I love it so far. I love how the insurance is low on it cause its classified as a station wagon.. LOL (weird) anyhow! I am wanting to do a lift on it this spring and put some 30 inch tires on it. Im really not one for big wheels, I like to see rubber.. So would a blazer lift kit work to get this thing lifted? What do I need to watch out for? I dont want a huge lift, just something to be a bitttt different since 30s arent too big. Is there anything I need to watch out for in general with bravadas? I love mine and its been well maintained (has 205K on it and it runs like a champ still, and I have a folder with all the work thats been done with it over the years so its been kept up). Any ideas on what I can do with this outside of that would be really helpful too! Thanks guys!

Re: Just got a 97 Bravada! How should I do this..

For future reference, anything (suspension wise at least) that fits a Blazer or Jimmy will also fit a Bravada (up to '02 when the Bravada/Envoy/TrailBlazer parted ways with the S series trucks.

And for what it's worth, the mystery lift (Tbar crank, shackles or AAL and 2" body lift) will give you plenty of clearance for 31x10.50s on stock rims. That's what I had on my '96 Jimmy. Going for the same on my '04 Blazer.

Re: Just got a 97 Bravada! How should I do this..

Alright! Thanks! How much would the mystery lift cost just about? I plan on saving up for it all this winter, I want to get neater looking wheels but really isnt a priority as much as a small 2 inch lift or so with some 30-31 inch tires. I know the tires will probably run about 500 after all is said and done.

Re: Just got a 97 Bravada! How should I do this..

Less than $300. The 2" body lift runs about $125 or so and a set of 2" shackles run less than $100. (The correct body lift on a late 2nd gen is about $200.) Add a couple of bucks for misc odds and ends, too. The Tbar crank is free.

If you go with aftermarket wheels (with a different backspace), you may need to trim your fenders. With stock wheels, you'll hit the frame and tie rod end just a bit at full lock but when you hit it the first time (especially with fairly aggressive tires), you'll know and you probably won't do it again. Stock wheels won't require you to trim your fenders.

Re: Just got a 97 Bravada! How should I do this..

Those look nice. Heres mine as of right now. It needs a rear bumper (or at least the plastic that goes around to the rear fender on the drivers side, the bumper itself other wise is fine) stock everything besides headunit. Two 12 inch pioneer free airs (old school subs) and a 1800 watt pyrimid amp (sucky brand but I got it for free). Hopefully next spring ill get some 30s put on it maybe a bit bigger if I get a lift done. I love this ride so far though!

Re: Just got a 97 Bravada! How should I do this..

I just have them in a box, they will hit in anything. Its just a pretty basic rattle system. I got it wired up but still cant get it to work (think its the rcas or the stereo or something) so ill trouble shoot later.

Re: Just got a 97 Bravada! How should I do this..

So! Since running boards and grill guards are so expensive im having a friend of mine make me some! (Hes a metal worker fromw ay back when and all it is is metal tubing which he works with too) for a fraction of the cost! Its my own design though which I am afraid of it coming out looking like crap.. But yeah! Any ideas on anything else I can do to it? What kind of tail lights wouldl ook best on my bravada since its maroon? Smoked? Or just keep it stock? And does anyone know of a way to secure the back windsheld wiper blade so it doesnt hit my glass every time my subs hit!? lol Not really a big issue but still its there! And any other neat things I can do with my pretty toy?
