Hi,
I have a 2000 2WD Blazer LT with 98,000 miles on it and since I've had it (for a year almost), I've always gotten a jolt through the whole cabin when I cranked the engine/Turned it on. It happens right at initial ignition and does it about 90 percent of the time. Honestly I notice it more now when it doesn't do it. Any suggestions as to the cause? It doesn't seem to be hurting anything. Thanks in advance |

Re: Jolt when turning on the Blazer
Could be. I'm gonna check into it. Had a buddy tell he had the issue and it went away completely after a trans rebuild.
I currently am gearing up to install the Transgo SK 4L60E shift improver kit in the next few weeks. Hopefully that will lessen the issue if it truly is the trans. What are your thoughts on the chances of it being the transmission? |

Re: Jolt when turning on the Blazer
Very well could be a tranny issue. With only 98K on the clock, I'm a little sceptical of that though. The 4L60's are a really tough transmissions, I currently have 183K with no rebuilds, just changed fluids, filter and use a Lucas additive for good measure.
I hear that shift kits are bad for transmissions so you may want to do some more research or get some opinions on that part from ones that have used them wether they liked/disliked them. I hear they wear down the tranny though. |

Re: Jolt when turning on the Blazer
I certainly agree with your concerns though that kit is not a shift kit as it is a shift improver. It is designed to fix and "improve" the shifting in the 4L60E. These transmissions had some specific complaints along the years and I only want to rule them out as the cause. I'll have to check the motor mounts again as I didn't really see the motor move much when I brake-torqued it a few weeks back. |

Re: Jolt when turning on the Blazer
my blazer does the same thing, it also sometimes lurches forward when it does this, so I think it's the torque converter sticking slightly.

Re: Jolt when turning on the Blazer
What would be the best way to troubleshoot the torque converter? Wouldn't that require the removal of the tranny?
Again, thanks for the dialog. |
