Jimmy Envoy threw me a service engine soon TODAY

I was making a trip up the the mountains today. As I got off my exit, 99 envoy started throwing the Service Engine SOON!!! I pulled over and checked everything. It all seemed fine. I drove to the nearest Advance auto parts and ran the basic computer check. They said it was the "Manufacturer Transmission error". He said it might be a sensor. Well I drove it back home. When I get off the highway back at home which is about a 75 Mile road trip. My transmission was acting up going to into second gear. I mean it felt like someone was rear ending me. Any advice people? SHould I feel safe driving it around town? What would be causing the tranny to shift that hard going into second from first? I would like to fix it myself. So any, help would be of great help. Thanks.

your second gear servo is going out... mine has been doing the same thing for years now only when i take it on a long trip... mine is fine driving around town but if i drive it on the highway for more then an hour it will do it the first few times it shifts into second after i get off the highway... when i had my ecu reprogrammed to shift at higher rpms it accually helped it out... it may not fix your but it fixxed mine for the most part...
