Is my 98' Jimmy worthy of going off road?

I wonder if my 98' 4x4 Jimmy is worthy of going off road. If not, which I don't think it is. What do I need to upgrade to make it trail ready? Tires, lockers?
I'm not going to do anything crazy just yet, but want don't want to get stuck on a muddy hill or a rocky grade.
Right now it sits stock.

Re: Is my 98' Jimmy worthy of going off road?

Hey, suncad where you at in Lapeer? I'm there too.

Anyway, the only immediate upgrades I'm looking at for my stock 98 Blazer is Cooper Discovery STT tires, 30x9.5", and ZR2 front and rear gears (Posi rear with 3.73 gears). I think even if you just went with a bigger tire, you'd be okay, or just an offroad tire.

on davison rd (m-21) by elba rd
and you can get 9" with a lift no prob and keep the EIF front that is a good set up it will give you more ground clearnce
but if you go with straight axle get ready to bend over i would spend my cash on more motor upgrades and do a nice bds 6" lift and get 35" tires and go thru a lot
if you are going for big you will need a hole new drive line 33" tires in mud will dog a 4.3

just my 2 cents i have seen a lot of wasted cash on parts that do not help

Thanks for the feedback, I don't really know what is best, I'm just looking for different options.

Re: Is my 98' Jimmy worthy of going off road?

We used the original leafs from the Wagoneer. Welded and fabricated some steel brackets to mount the leafs to in the front. The origianl sonoma shocks were used in the application.

Re: Is my 98' Jimmy worthy of going off road?

You can definately take your Jimmy/Blazer off-roading, even next-to stock. I took my '97 2-door Blazer out this weekend and it did better than my buddy's stock Wrangler. The only mod I have is 30 inch tires. We both climbed a pretty steep mound of dirt, and I made it up without hittting anything. He hit his skid plates. Although now his Jeep is lifted 4 inches on 31's... . So I say go for it. Just have a hose ready when you come home!!

Re: Is my 98' Jimmy worthy of going off road?

I want to put some mini boggers on it. I don't think they make them small enough to clear it in any way.
Do they make body lifts for 98+ S10 Blazers/Jimmys.
How much work to get them on? Do you have to extend or modify anything?

If I can't run boggers at stock height or with a body lift, then i'll run a Super Swamper TSL, I believe they're called.
