Interior project
Well i just bought a 96 blazer tuesday and last night i pulled it in to start the first mod. Some might think its kinda pointless but i really like a quiet ride and no rattles! :P here are some pics so far.

Re: Interior project
Man the squeaks drive me nuts in mine...so I just put a Flowmaster on it... That solves alot of those annoying squeaks and rattles as well as annoying squeaking ball joints!!!
How much does that hush mat run? I know dynamat is $$$$$$$$$$$$$ |

Re: Interior project
the kit i got was the biggest kit they offer. its called the bulk kit. it is 30 sheets and each sheet is 12"x23" and it cost about $250
im hoping that it will cover most if not all of my interior. i am not gona do behind the dash yet because i will be upgrading to the 98+ dash within a month and i will just cover it while i have the dash out. as far as the flowmaster comment.....i plan on running true duals soon that turn down right in front of the rear diff. and if it is to loud inside the truck with that exaust then i will probably double layer the floor. ![]() |

Re: Interior project
wow....this is the first second gen blazer i have ever owned and i must say that the interiors suck to take out!!! first gen blazers are so much easier to tear apart than the second gen stuff IMO.

Re: Interior project
well i worked on the blazer again tonight. i have little time available so i can only do so much at a time. but i got the entire thing stripped and now im ready for preping the surfaces. i did find some hidden treasures thoe! the previous owner installed all boston acoustic speakers and idk if these blazers come with tweaters in the dash or not but mine hase plate adapters and tweaters in the dash.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() also i just got my new head unit in today! its gota be one of the cleanest looking units i have seen. it does everything threw bluetooth. its a clarion FB275BT ![]() |

Re: Interior project
My stock sound system in the '95 LT has tweeters in the dash. I think it might be part of the "premium sound package." but a 4x6 plate component system is going to fit in there just fine i think...hehe
Oh and by the way...the stock tweeters blow very easily...i think i trashed one of mine already and have been working on the second one |

Re: Interior project
well the rats nest is from the previous owner who obviously has no idea how to run wires. it was pathetic. also i went to the junk yard today and hit the jackpot! they were just rolling in with a 2001 blazer LT and it had the full interior and had power heated mirrors and dual power leather seats. im pretty pumped about getting the newr leather interior. it will make my project take longer but it will be worth it.

Re: Interior project
as long as its all stripped you might as well bag and bd it.
good deal on the junkyard parts! i think most blazers had tweaters in the dash but my base model didn't. |

Re: Interior project
i am gona bag it very soon. i will probably work on the front half of the interior now and just leave the back half bare. i have shockwaves for the front but im still unsure whats going to happen with the back. as far as a body drop....i dont want to spend the money or have it down that long. i will just add some extreme ground effects to get the body on the ground.

Re: Interior project
i thot so to until i learned from some members on here that i guess u dont have to cut up the heater/ac box very much if at all. inner fenders dont bother me cuz its easy to make new there. plus the 22's on the back would be sweet.

Re: Interior project
well i tried out my hand at smoothing and painting interior pieces for the first time and for cuttin some corners on my test piece i think it turned out very well!! my steps were as follows....
1. 80 grit paper to sand down all the texture 2. 180 grit paper to knock down the scratches from the 80 grit paper 3. wash and prime with filler primer 4. no sanding of the primer....just sprayed color coat i used all rattle can as well. cheap and effective! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Interior project
What do you have to change to get that '01 dash into the '96. I have a '95 and I was looking to change it to the new style dash meaning 98+. I know it'll bolt right in, but what kinda of heater box modifications need to be made, if any at all. How about wiring? I am doing a chassis swap to mine and will be re-wiring much if not all of the truck anyway, but I am still curious on the modifications needed because I would like to keep as much stock wiring in the truck as I can, unless its all different in which case I'll just re-wire the whole thing. The gauges I will be replacing with Autometer gauges.

Re: Interior project
im not for sure yet because i haven't started going back together with it yet. i put the new driver seat in and the only thing u have to do is cut off the right rear seat stud because the 98+ seats use the seatbelt hole instead of the stud.

Re: Interior project
ok.....there are four studs that the seat bolts down to. if u are facing the front of the truck it is the back right stud that needs cut off. if u have both types of seats there u will understand what i mean.
