Info/Help
So I am looking for some information on my blazer. I have a 2000 2dr 5-speed manual, with manual locks and windows. I'm looking to see the difficulty/possibility of putting in power windows and locks, and how big of a deal leather interior will be.
Because it's a 2dr, I do have to have the seats folded forward in order for people to get to the back, and so far I've yet to see leather on a 2-door model (that wasn't completely custom). Do they make seats already wrapped in leather with the folding arm, or will I be better off talking to an interior shop? As far as windows and locks go, what all will I need for the installation? Will a dealership/interior shop be able to install them for me (I'm lazy)? BTW first post, I did a quick search and didn't find much. |

Re: Info/Help
Dealer = too much money (I know, I work for one, lol)....so DIY!!!!
For your leather, the front seats are the same fit from all the S-series from 94 (truck only, Blazer /Jimmy was 95) up till they killed them in 05. I would look for front seats from an Envoy (special edition Jimmy from 98-00) or from any Jimmy or Blazer with a leather option in places like craigslist.org (I know near me in Detroit, there is a guy selling the front and back leathers from an Envoy for $300), the calssifieds on this site (once they get running again), or your local auto wrecker. For regular Jimmy/Blazer leather, youll likely be looking $100-$150 for a pair. I would need to double check but i think the 4 door and 2 door back seats are the same too. Again, for power options, your cheapest bet is to go the pick-a-part yards. DOnt forget, to do it right, you need the interior door pannles that have poweer too. Again, can prolly pick up entire doors at the wrecker for around $50/ea. I can see power locks certainly (can have them PLUS an alarm installed all at once for under $200), but, dont give up the idea of your crank windows so fast. Lots of guys on here keep them and there are some pretty sick billet aluminum window cranks out there that look so badass, i SOMETRIMES wish i had crank windows! |

Re: Info/Help
Ok, the installation part isn't really all that's worrying me. It's mainly the ease of the installation. Is all of the wiring already ran, or will I have to do it mostly by myself?

Re: Info/Help
You will have to run the wires yourself. But if you can run speaker wire, you can run the wires needed for power windows. Like was said above, you can get stuff out of other S-Series, or find it on the net. I know there are a couple of universal power window kits out there and I've see at least one made especially for S-Series. You don't necessarily need the door panels, you can mount the switches where-ever you want, and give it that custom touch. As far as the seats go, you could always just have your seats recovered in leather. While your add it, they could do your door panels and anything else you need to give it a nice flow. I've seen several sets of replacement leather seat covers on ebay that just replace the cloth that is already there.
