Question if anyone else has a 4WD blazer...

i have a 98 blazer 4 door 4x4 auto 4.3 with 90k miles. every once in a while, i will be driving and notice that the 2hi indicator light isn't on. all 3 lights are just blank. if i press the 2hi button and hold it down for about 10 seconds and let go then it will stay on until i shut off the engine, then next time i drive it might do it again (about 75% of the time it comes on and stays on likes it's supposed to). i'm pretty sure its not in 4wd when this happens because i can make sharp turns and it doesn't cause any binding. i am just wondering if anyone else's does this and what it might mean.

sounds like the bulb is going.

Replace the bulb and make sure the contacts are clean and I bet your problem will be solved.

If realy it was the bulb, the two other would`n fash!!! If I was you, I wrather take a closer look to the 4 wheel drive sensor on the front diff . It could also be just a vacum problem with the actuater on the front diff. Hope it will help you! sorry if the spelling is not always correct....I`m french!

There is no flashing. The only time it ever flashes is when I put it in 4-lo and it flashes for a couple seconds while it is shifting in. I haven't used the 4wd in almost 2 weeks and the 2-hi light always comes on and hasn't been causing any problems.

Re: if anyone else has a 4WD blazer...

I can't get my 4 wheel drive to work at all. When I press the button for 4hi, you hear it click in underneath the vehicle and the light swithes to 4 hi, but it's still in 2WD since only the rear are spinning in snow. When I put the vehicle in 4lo, you hear it lock in in the rear, but the front tires don't engage again. (I am in Michigan and have snow right now). Any ideas??? please help!

Re: if anyone else has a 4WD blazer...

I actually found where the problem was. There is a vacuum hose splitter up by the ABS control unit, a hose rotted off. Thanks for all the suggestions though!!!
