Re: I want to turbo my 1995 GMC Jimmy
i know everyone says this..but to do a turbo is really expensive...it would actually be cheaper to do a V8 swap since there isnt that much support for a 4.3 out there like there is other engines
idk if you have emissions to worry about..but a TBI 350 from a silverado would be a very inexpensive way to go as far as swapping and the power will be pretty good when you do all the research you will find that it going to be at around a 5000.00 install to get good parts, get it tuned properly and make it as streetable as a stock motor. which is also about the price of doing a v8 swap, again to make it as streetable as it is now(that means fuel injection for the guy reading this that will say just do a carb) and a reliable vehicle |

Re: I want to turbo my 1995 GMC Jimmy
It is not going to be $5000 more like $2000 cause one of the guys on here lives by me and truboed his blazer and i was talking about doing mine and the parts list came out to $2000 but you really need to talk to the guys in the turbo section i think that is where he is most of the time any way

Take note, the 95's had a different engine than the rest of the years.

Re: I want to turbo my 1995 GMC Jimmy
![]() And I'm not so sure I agree that a V8 swap would be cheaper. More power means that there are other components outside of the engine that you'd want to upgrade, so that the V8 doesn't tear 'em up -- like your differentials. A V8 also means more weight in the front, so you'd want to account for that. You'd also want to be sure that you get the computer chip to go with the engine, plus the right wiring harness. A supercharger or turbo will indeed give you just as much power as a V8. Also, if the V6 ever dies, 4.3's are easy to find. You can swap the engine and just port the turbo when you do it. For that reason, I'm sticking with my 4.3. It's all a matter of weighing the pros against the cons and picking what flavor works best for you. Good luck in whatever you choose to do -- and POST PIX! ![]() |
