How to tow a heavy load?

Everyone,

Okay so I know I should keep my torque converter locked up as much as possible and I do when I am at highway speeds. (I watch the RPMs drop and when I get back into the gas the RPMs don't imediatly climb up).

My question is, what is the best way to accelerate from a stand still?

Also, what is the best way to tow a long (1 mile) hill?

Re: How to tow a heavy load?

does your truck have a Tow/Haul button...cause that would be a good place to start. from a stand still i just hit the gas and accelerate. no need to floor it but just get the rig moving. for long hills try and get some speed up before the hill and then downshift manually as your RPMs start getting to low if you have to. Tow/haul should cause your truck to downshift a little sooner than normal if you have it.
