Unhappy How to install rotor? 02 V6 Vortec

I just replaced the distributor cap and the screw on the backside broke off. I pulled the rotor out and drilled out the broken screw but now I don't know how to reinstall the rotor back in the engine. So anyone have clear instructions on how to do this for someone who has never done this before? My Hanes shop manual is worthless.

Wouldn't you just put the rotor back on and screw it down the same way it came off?

OK, you have 2 screws so it can only go on 2 ways. Look at the underside of the rotor and you will see a tab that sticks out. The tab goes into a groove on the top of the dizzy, so that the rotor only fits one way. Put it on so that the tab engages the groove, install 2 screws and you're done!

Re: How to install rotor? 02 V6 Vortec

Sorry, should have said distributor. I had to pull the distributor out to drill out the screw that broke off when I was putting the new distributor cap on. It doesn't matter now. I took it in and $105 later it's back in correctly. At least if it happens again I'll know to make marks on it so I'm sure to get it lined up correctly.
