How Many Time ?

I have received my Bilstein shocks and now I have to find a garage to install these .
What is your estimated time for the change of rear and front shocks on my stock 2000 4x4 Blazer.
I prefer to be well informed before any garage start the job ................
Thanks in advance for your help .

Re: How Many Time ?

idk what the shops charge but this is a fairly easy job ... the back once can be swaped out very easily and most mild tuners can do it within 30-40min with basic tools themselves ...

the front is little bit more tricky cause it's harder to get to them and u gotta remove tire n losen brakes to remove the shock but over all can be done with basic garage tools...

i don't think that this should cost more then 100-200 at max

Re: How Many Time ?

wow dude can u honestly not change the shocks on your truck?

you need a jack and a couple wrenches is all. its a simple swap out theres no need to pay a shop if you have the time to do it. it shouldnt b more than a 2 hr job even for a novice.

Re: How Many Time ?

You can do this with little experience in a sunday afternoon with hand tools.

Here is the step by step that I used...at this time, I had next to no tools and was very nervous about doing it myself, but, I managed to do it in an afternoon in my driveway

Re: How Many Time ?

I cannot do it by myself because I live in the center of Paris, in a flat and a very small parkinf lot between a pilar and a wall 20cm on each side......
So no place, no tools !
I woould appréciate to purchase / import a Tahoe Hybrid but the parking lots of the building are to small because of a design for European cars .

Re: How Many Time ?

yeah post some pics of the right hand drive dash, I love the look of them, they're just so different.

Anyway shouldn't take a shop that has a lift anymore than 30-45min to do the job. It's about a $50 USD job imo.

There's another guy on here somewhere in Europe that has a lifted 4dr RHD. It's in the 4dr pics wanted thread.

That's odd, why isn't yours a right hand drive? Wanna sell those tail lights?

Is your Blazer silver and not pewter? Wanna trade?

Re: How Many Time ?

Some spécifications on My Blazer . It is a version for France/ Europe out of England because of the homologation rules.
All French version are LT with leather and full électric with memory front seats , rear seat is a 2/3 , Glass sunroof, automatic AC, remote control with passlock system, headligth washers, regulation from inside of the heigh of headlights.
My mods are:
HIR bulbs in low and high beams,
Drop in AEM Dryflow air filter (before it was a K&N)
Stainless steel cat back BORLA exhaust line ,
In some weeks Bilstein shocks will be installed .
And the last mod that I plan is a wireless rear view camera system .
It run with either a 95 octane gas (the lowest in France ) or a mix 60% 95 gas /40% Ethanol E85 ( I have tested up to 6O% of E85 before the SES light but I prefer to be conservative and have only 40% !)

Now my friends you know everything about my passion......my Blazer !

Re: How Many Time ?

I've read you can do just a few mods and get a gasoline engine to run off of E-85 just fine. So hows about selling me those tails, you can get a different set off of French Ebay. Or do you know where I could get some tails like you have?

The official name for the color is "pewter" .
Concerning the tail lights , they are very expensive because they are spécial for France, Belgium, Germany, Netherland (in the others European countries it's allowed to drive with the US ligths ). And the stock for spares is in GM Germany so they cumulate the margins and .......... I may ask the price but you will be affreid In France they are around only 700 2end gen. Blazer including ZR2 version and for the S10 pick-up you can count it on the fingers of your hands............

Re: How Many Time ?

Those and especially the later model lights are popular on this forum, but we(or I) thought you could only get them out of Brazil for like $120 a set or something like that. That sucks about the price though.

I think that the tail lights, that one of you is importing from Brazil and selling on the site, are the same as mine with :
one red light for brake and nigth light (2light power in same bulb)
one orange light for direction ,
one white reverse light
one strong red light for fog .
So it will be more easy for you to go that purschase channel

For side markers it's the european laws and when you have to homologate a US Car in Europe you have to install these ones .

Re: How Many Time ?

The switch for rear wiper and button for hatch is just on left side of the radio.
The switch for headlights is on the left of the steering wheel (same place as for US models)
At these place you have headlight switch, roll switch for dash light, dome switch, roll for headlights height adjustment, red rear fog light switch .

I wasn't referring to yours(his), I was talking about the one in post #35

The RHD one has the USA version multi-function switch in the same place as ours, but it also has one on the right hand side of the column. There isn't a switch on the dash like ours, but the switch on the left side of the column is slightly different so it could be on that side too. I can't make out what's on the right side, but now that I noticed the switch not being on the dash I bet you're right and that's what it is.

Re: How Many Time ?

Sorry but the system is fixed on the plastic plateform behind the head light itself (behind the part where the bulb is entered in and that hold the assembly ) and you cannot see anything because it's a closed square black box with wires screwed on the plateform.
If I have the opportunity of uninstall one headlight I will take a photo and post it .
