Re: hood release works, but doesnt pop
this is kinda funny actually, we have crappy seat handles (funny cuz even autozone sells a handle just for us), crappy door hinges (just replaced mine) and hood latches. and probably a whole lot more . but hey. our engines are rather torquey, so thats a plus

Re: hood release works, but doesnt pop
Lower the black bumpstops on radiator support a little. They could be pushing hood up just enough and keeping pressure on the latch.

Re: hood release works, but doesnt pop
the latch itself that allows the hood to pop, my hood sometimes wont even pop up i have to play with it for like 5 mins to get the hood up |

Re: hood release works, but doesnt pop
I ahd the same problem for a long time. Heres what I did. Once you get he hood open, take a look at the latch. If its like mine its caked up with all sorts of rust and gooey crap. Spray it (the latch mech, and the spring and cable) with brake cleaner to get the grime off. Then wire brush the rust off the spring, and check it to make sure its not bent. You can even stretch it back out a little to make it a tad longer (or replace the spring). Once the rust and grim is gone lube it up with something durable, in my case I used marine grease. I put it on the pivot points of the latch mechanism, coated the spring coils with a nice thin layer and put a small amount on the cable going to the lock to help free it up too. Then cycle the lock several times (with the hood up) locking it and using the latch in the cab to release. This will help work the grease in. Then shut your hood and it should work better. Just be sure to periodically check it to clean the grime/rust off and re-lube.
