Hiccup

Ok I have a 2001 2 door with 4.3 auto. It has and FIPK on it underdrive pulleys and Flowmaster 40 series 2.5" pipe. I recently did a plugs and wires rotorcap and button and fuel filter replacement on it to try and fix the problem Im about to explain. About 2 years ago I noticed that at acceleration it was surging but noticed it mostly when the engine was wet such as after driving it on wet roads. The SES light would come on and stay on for about a day then go off. It would only come on every 3 or 4 weeks. So I took it and had the code reader put on it at Autozone. They said it was an O2 sensor. Well the problem disappeared and I didnt do anything about it. Well about 6 months ago I started getting a hiccup while at cruising speed. Thats when I did the tune up. It drives fine some days but really sh@tty some. I msinly do city driving within 3 to 9 miles a day. It s getting worse oh and it doesn't idle very smoothely either. Their is a slight pop in the exhaust. I ve been riding on here about the spider inj assy upgrade and was really wondering f this would be the best place to start or if I should just replace the O2 and the cat first and see if that fixes the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Oh yeah for the majority of the time that I ve had the truck I ve been running a hypertech power programmer on it using both the 87 and the 93 tune. Currently I dont have it on there because I keep waiting for the SES light to come on so I can have the trouble code run on it again.
