help with my 96' blazer

hi, i have a 96' s-10 blazer 4x4, auto. 4.3 v6. i recently had my trans. rebuilt , anyway looking under the truck i noticed a piece of hose about 3/8" black rubber, going to the rear of the engine. i don't know where. it looks like it was torn right by the front of the trans. the other end of this hose is near the rear of the trans. and goes to a y-split. i don't know where this goes either. it looks like there is about 2 ft. in between the torn or cut pieces. there's no fluid leaking out of them. but does anybody know what this is? does it need repair? this hose looks like it rans right under the trans. and somebody cut a 2 ft. section out of it. by the way everything seems to be working o.k.

I agree sounds like the vent hose. If it is cut or ripped short you might want to replace it or find out where the other part is at, so that the length of the vent hoses is high up in the engine compartment so water and mud dosent get in them.

Re: help with my 96' blazer

one sounds like your front diff vent hose and the other sounds liek the tranny vent/ overflow hose. The front diff should have a plastic vent cap on the end of the hose so it allows air to move but wont allow dirt in
