Help me guess what's wrong
ok. 1999 jimmy 4x4 not lifted. new tires and has had an alignment done recently.
about a month ago it got: tranny flush, rad flush, brake system flush, synthetic oil put in, diffs done and t case done. fluids are all about a month old aside from power steering (which i haven't done). Has nothing to do with it, but last weekend it got new pads and rotors in the back. when i accelerate normally, it's as good as new. when i get on it, i hear a clunk that sounds like it's coming from the right front. and guesses on what it'd be? just want a general list of items to check before i have a day off to look into it. i was guessing shocks or possibly swaybar and i'm hoping it's got nothing to do with anything to do with my 4x4. any takers? Re: Help me guess what's wrong
Definitely not all the time and definitely not only WOT.
When i hit the throttle from a stop, it will only make the noise when i'm accelerating quite quickly. Pedal might be down 3/4, but i don't just stomp it down. I wouldn't say wheelbearings because in my buddies subaru brat, it was pretty apparant what was wrong. Not sure if it sounds the same when all wheelbearings go, but it's not the same type of noise. Balljoints, couldn't say. when i get the chance i'll lift it up and push the tire around to check for play. Keep up coming, thanks guys Last edited by 1980supreme; 03-05-2007 at 07:32 PM. |

Tighten up your U-Bolts on the rear axle with an impact gun
I know I had the same sound and I fixed it with my solution |

Re: Help me guess what's wrong
it sounds more like it's coming from the front, but i guess the clunk could be from the rear end moving and driveshaft shifting where it attaches to the t case. i'll make sure to check those also. i'll give everything a nice greasing also.

Re: Help me guess what's wrong
I would just go under and start looking for play. Check the ujoints too.
