Help!?!?!?!

So to make it short i have a 2000 Bravada And i am having a problem Everytime i fill the gas tank and i sit it goes to Empty and my check eng light is on. And when i am empty i can never tell because it will say i am full unless i am going up hill... So what is it?? I need to get it inspected soon and i cant with the eng light on would this be throwing my light on by the gas gauge not working??

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

go to autozone and have them pull the code. that'll tell you why your engine light is on. if your fuel gauge is not working properly just fill up when you hit 300 miles on your trip meter each time. 300 miles from a full tank takes you down to approximately 1/4 tank.
