heater core removal

So I started my heater core removal with the Chilton's manual on a 2000 jimmy

Let's just say that describing the removal process with words is a PITA.

I currently have the dash hanging and most of the fasteners removed -
Do I need to remove the ashtray and ECM to get the entire dash to pivot down?
Do i need to remove the plastic knee bolster on the driver side?
If so, how do I remove the handbrake lever?

This is driving me nuts, and I can't find that comprehensive how to that I saw on here before.

If anybody could find me a list of steps to do, it would be great. Thanks in advance.

Re: heater core removal

ok guys, i really need help. I can't figure this out and chilton's is worthless. I got my buddy to print off a copy of the mitchell on demand solution here...

which doesn't mention the removal of the dash!!!

i haven't tried this yet, but are our trucks "G series"? Has anyone done the heater core in the 2000 blazer/jimmy's who can give me some pointers?

Re: heater core removal

Oh boy, I hope I never have todo that, but I noticed that the first time I started the heater last fall, my windshield fogged up some.
