Hatch issue

I read the sticky about the manual hatch release. I haven't tried to get to it yet because my box is in the way and I don't think it's going to fit out the back door, before I hack my box up I figured I would describe my issue and see if it's the same for others.

I can hear the acutator, it sounds the same as it always has yet the glass won't release. The sticky talks about replacing the acutator, will it still make noise if it's bad? Anyone know what the likely hood is of the glass opening if I can get to the manual release?

Thanks.

P.S. The damn thing decided to go out just after i got home with a load of groceries including frozen items, it was a real bitch getting it all out.

Re: Hatch issue

On mine, the tip of the actuator had broke off. The tip is a plastic piece that pulls the latch release. So the actuator was still working, just not pulling the release.

If you can reach in and push that part in the pics (in the thread), the glass will open. That's the same part that the actuator pulls.

Re: Hatch issue

If you're talking about the window on the hatch...

the hinge is probably rusted... find some heavy duty penetrator and spray it on... not WD40, but something industrial duty...

it will open up, my problem was it wouldn't close/lock the window down...
