gurgling sound in the dash...

Ok. I bought a '00 4 door 4wd Blazer when I bagged my S-10 so I could have something to drive to work and all when its nasty out, but, there's this "gurgling" sound when my Blazer is in drive or reverse. It stops when I put it in nuetral. And it gets louder when I give it some gas. The transmission has been replaced by a previous owner, so does anyone think it may a vacuum line? It shifts fine and doesn't leak. Are there some vacuum lines or something that may have been left off? Any help would be awesome.

Thanks.

check the coolant level, you're probably low. The gurgling is the coolant going thru the heater core

Re: gurgling sound in the dash...

it's air in the heater core, i think you can purge it out with a hose conected to the coolant lines that go into the fire wall.

It's called the s-10 waterfall. kinda like the chevy lean, it's pretty common.

Re: gurgling sound in the dash...

i don't think its just the s-10s because my 98 blazer does it also, but now that i read that you can purge the air out i will try it.

Well technically the sound is not the coolant passing through the heater core but the air passing through the heater core.

Re: gurgling sound in the dash...

I flushed the radiator out when I changed antifreeze. It ran for a solid 30 min with a water hose pumping water in the motor. So it can't be air in the core. It still makes the gurgling sound. Anyone else had this problem?

Re: gurgling sound in the dash...

Its not coming from the heater core. It's from the middle of the dash. I'm still clueless.

Are you sure it's a 'gurgling' sound and not a 'rattling' sound?

I have an '01 Jimmy, and I have a rattling sound coming from my dash. From what I have researched, it might be the cowl that is making the rattling noise.

Re: gurgling sound in the dash...

I hear the same gurgling sound in my 96 s10 sometimes. I don't use my ac and it still makes the sound so I don't know what it is. I ignore it now.

Re: gurgling sound in the dash...

Is the air. After some few (5-6) trials I got a better condition in my 95: from waterfall to the sounds of a japanese garden. To improve leave the rad cap off until the thermostat is fully open. Raise the rpms quite a few times. Repeat the cicle after cooling.

Re: gurgling sound in the dash...

My 96 Jimmy did not have the gurgling sound until I changed the FI spider!!! I assume one of the hoses is vibrating. Or the flow of fuel in the hoses is causing the problem.

Re: gurgling sound in the dash...

I get the same question. Add on top of that noise the freaking compressor noise, it annoying. I'm going to try and bleed the air out. The A/C clutch is on it's last leg...11 years!! So I'll run it until it goes kaput.

Re: gurgling sound in the dash...

my 2000 xtreme 4.3 started doing it this morning right after I had the lower intake gasket and the water pump replaced and the cooling system flushed.
I will be taking it back to the mechanic this weekend to have him look at it cuz cuz I didn't drop $760.00 in repairs to have to put up with this F-ing noise every morning. I'll keep you guy informed as to what he says. But i would have to agree with the air in the system thing.

Re: gurgling sound in the dash...

i had a similiar problem, so i started looking at the cooling system parts

turns out my rad cap let in air on cool down (gasket went to crap) and my upper rad hose wasnt completely tight on the thermo housing probably letting in air as well.

bought a new RAD CAP with the safety release lever and tightened the hose, bled air out of the system by squeezing upper rad hose with the rad cap lever up. Then warmed it up threw the heat on high and did it again, now all air is gone, and wont come back. nice and quiet with no air sounds
