Re: glass top blazer

What I would reccomend doing, is try to sink the ragtop into the roof about an inch and try to cover it with some lexan piece or something

Really badass idea, give a shot, honestly if you just cuz the roof and sink in the ragtop doing a lexan cover probably wouldn't be too tough

Re: glass top blazer

lexan is somewhat fleaxable so it should bend to the little curve needed for your roof...what id look for is a sunroof of an SRX, Ford Edge, or even a G6:
SRX:

Edge:

G6 (this one is actually on a Ranger):

Re: glass top blazer

i have a 35x40 ragtop that is like 4 years old i have been trying to find out on making a huge ass moonroof for my truck for some time now i am looking into getting a peice of glass molded for it but its gonna have to be tempered and hella expensive then im gonna have it tinted to match the truck or just like 5% something like that to help keep some of the sun out ! but its looking like its just gonna be a new rag to be cheaper for now IDK though !

Re: glass top blazer

Sounds like a lot of extra work for what equates to a sliding rag top with a hard insert. What is the need for a glass/lexan insert? Get a Webasto sliding rag top or look for a wrecked 08+ Jeep Liberty with the Freedom top or whatever they call the sliding rag. That one is actually cool because you can slide it forward or backward and stop it at any point in between.

Re: glass top blazer

That's not removable. It's just a full glass panel. Looks like it's on a concept vehicle and probably has auto-darkening capabilities.

Re: glass top blazer

Thats what hes talking about...having a fulltime glass roof then a sliding rag under it on the inside to block out the sun....exactly how a normal sunroof is...

Re: glass top blazer

I thought he wanted it to open up. Just come up with a retractable sun shade then, something like a roll up window shade in a house.

The problem he is having mostly is not with the shade/rag, but, doing the clear roof.

I've seen lots of hack job plexi roofs in vehicles over the years.

Re: glass top blazer

lol k dog got me on this haha
but yea i just want a giant sunroof, i dont want it to slide or lift, just take it all the way off, thats not difficult, i just dont know how to go about getting the glass or lexan or whatever, and having it curve with the truck. the rag part is easy. and no, i dont want no plexiglass.

i said that one ^^^ cuz its the WHOLE roof unlike the other cars
