gas gauge fluctuation

Anybody else have this problem better yet a fix. The gauge seems good most of the time but especially under half it seems to suddenly jump toward empty and eventually come back up.

Re: gas gauge fluctuation

this is very common problem with the blazers 99% of the time if you replace the fuel sending unit/pump itll take care of the problem.

Re: gas gauge fluctuation

What year blazer do you have? I know at one point they didn't have a fuel level buffer. I know 95's don't, I'm not sure what year they added them, but if you don't have one, adding one should fix your problem.

Re: gas gauge fluctuation

I seen somewhere that there was some kind of thing under the dash you had to fool with, wish I paid more attention because mine is fluctuating now..

Re: gas gauge fluctuation

Mine was doing that at 1/2 tank, replaced the pump and sender, since they are together, and it has been working correctly since. It's kind of nice to have a working fuel gauge

Re: gas gauge fluctuation

I have an 00 Bravada. I'm worried about spending the money on the pump/sending unit as my buddy did this on his 95 1500 Silverada to fix this exact issue and well it didn't help his. But if people are pretty sure I'll look into this in the future after I get everything else on the truck fixed first.

Re: gas gauge fluctuation

As mikeinwi said, very common problem. I had the same issue, I wasn't about to spend the money to fix it. So I just started watching my mileage...

Re: gas gauge fluctuation

I have the same problem on my '01. I was told it's the sensor in the fuel tank..some sort of pics that rot off of it and cause it to give weird readings.
