Fuel Gauge issue
2000 S10 Blazer, 4DR, 4X4. Fuel Gauge is always on Empty and Fuel light is always on. So I read through the forums and discovered that the fuel level sending unit is a common problem on this model. Of course the sending unit is part of the pump assembly. So today I dropped the tank and installed a new pump assembley complete with sending unit. put it all back together, filled up with fuel and.....NOTHING! Gauge is still on E nd fuel light is still on.
Any suggestions? After all I have read it is highly unlikely that the gauge itself is bad (but possible). How should I test. |

Re: Fuel Gauge issue
i just use my trip odo as a fuel gauge. its a bit cheaper than dropping the tank. though i do get the occasional headache of someone borrowing my truck and running out of gas without the slightest clue as to why when the fuel gauge says full

Re: Fuel Gauge issue
Just swapped mine out on my 2000 Jimmy. $331 from AutoZone. When you swapped yours did you get the updated witing harness with it? It may or may not have anything to do with it. But if you did change it out it could be one of the wire are not making good contact.

Re: Fuel Gauge issue
I did a little trouble shooting. I pulled the instrument cluster out and if I ground pin#1 of the fuel guage it goes to full (Low fuel light does not go out). This tells me the guage is most likely working but there is an open circuit. Im not sure if the fuel light should go out when I grond it or not. Here is the odd part I have a wiring diagram that says the wire from the sending unit is purple and goes directly to the guage. There are NO purple wires in the harness that connects to the cluster. Also when I test for continuity from the guage to the pins on the harness I get no continuity, the path stops at a little circuit board that I cant remove. Is it possible something in this little board is my problem? So to help me troubleshoot a little more does anyone know the actual color of the fuel level sending wire that goes into the instrument cluster? Its not purple! any other thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated. |

Re: Fuel Gauge issue
Ive got the same problem... And my oil pressure gage is doing the same thing... I think its in the bcm, cluster or the connections.
