Free Vin Check..........

so, my room mates got the 2.2 dime. if it was automatic, it wouldn't matter to him. but, its a stick and the rear main oil seal is starting to leak when he gets over 50mph.
he found a mint deal today. a 2001 LT blazer. with mint body and paint. 4.3. vin w, 150,000 miles, motor purrs, all oem, EVERY upgrade available for the year, except sunroof and leather. totally premium, with upgraded paint on the grill, tow package, the works. the interior is mint. i saw it run. its awesome. 4wd, you name it, its got it.
i want to run a vehicle history, but, for identity theft ( got whacked for over 9G LAST MONTH ) reasons, we wont put the credit card #'s online anymore.
does anyone have a hook up with running the vin to check the history?
the vin is: 1gndt13w71k250430

And the notes indicate a check written back to the customer in exchange for the truck.

Re: Free Vin Check..........

i understand that, but, the trucks condition is mint. it doesn't drip a drop of oil and runs like a BBBlaaaazer, should. 4 wheel is awesome. top to bottom the paint is mint. looks to me like some dealer drove it himself and turned it in for cash for clunkers to pick up 4500 for it and we got it for half the price. telling you awesome deal. was just concerned about the previous listings on fax. but, those are all good. just shows previous owner was anal. thats a good thing in my book. i'm extremely satisfied. thank you so much. just got to say again, thew interior and exterior are mint. not a drop of oil on the exterior. runs like a champ. thing even has mad upgrades. aftermarket bilstein shocks, upgraded 4 wheel oversized rotors and calipers and tires. just too good too be true. for the price we love it. too good to b true.

Re: Free Vin Check..........

The Customer Reimbursement wouldn't be for the Cash for Clunkers program. By law, any vehicle used in the Cash for Clunkers program has to have the motor disabled. They basically pour liquid glass in the engine and run it until it seizes. You can't (again, by law) resell a CfC vehicle. It's supposed to be crushed although I've already heard stories of vehicles (minus the powertrain) ending up in boneyards.

I'd find out more info on the Customer Reimbursement before I bought it. Could be it was flooded and the dealer replaced some cosmetic parts. Or maybe the frame was rusted through and the dealer did a cosmetic fix? There's something hinky about it.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the rental part. My '04 Blazer was originally a "Fleet Vehicle" but other than a slightly sagging drivers side Tbar and some minor scratches, it's in great shape.

x2!
As a dealer, 80% of our used inventory comes from fleet/rentals. On average, a safety/Optimum inspection costs about HALF the price as a locally traded car. Also, to keep fleet status with GM, the rental companies have to 100% comply with service scheduling. On a local trade, someone might not change their oil until 2000 miles over, use Prestone instead of Dexcool, not change end links when recomended, etc, etc...
I recomend rentals over local trades the majority of the time.
