Finally breaking down and buying a 2nd gen...
Hello everyone,
Never posted in this section before, kinda cool here...haha. Anyways the engine blew in my 1st gen Blazer and im looking at a replacement. I really know very little about 2nd gens, so my question is, what should i be looking out for as far as wear items and such in buying a used blazer/s10? There any recalls i should be worried about? Engine problems with these trucks..? post em up. In particular im looking at this 2002 Blazer 4dr with 63,000 miles, i just want to know what i should look for to make sure it will last a long time. If you have any Input please post up. ![]() Thanks guys! Last edited by Onimun : 03-19-2008 at 12:04 AM. |

i'd say they are very reliable for the most part. just check over the normal things, fluids and what-not. you could check the stickies at the top of this section and see if any are related to what you're looking for.

The air injection pumps suck on the years 01 and up. Drill some holes in the cover so water doesn't collect in there and it may last you longer if it's not already full of it. Other than that, it's only little things that go wrong as can be expected. Oh, and Blazer hubs are expensive compared to s10's.
That looks like a nice blazer though. |

The air injection pump is between the two front frame horns below the radiator. You'll see it best from below. It has lines that run up to the front of the exhaust manifolds.
