***Envoy Spoiler***

I have a 2000 Trailblazer and after seeing the GMC equivilent the Envoy which has a real attractive and sporty spoiler on the back I set out to get one for my car. I was told by GMC, after taking about an hour just to FIND the part in the computer due to the lack of comprehension that a 1999-2001 Envoy even exists, that it would cost around $600. I went to an aftermarket spoiler company and he said that the window was designed completely differently to house the spoiler and that would need to be replaced etc.

All in all what seemed so simple has turned into a nightmare but I am always looking to get the spoiler if possible.

So my question is, does anyone have an Envoy with this spoiler, or has anyone added this to their blazer? If so, I'm looking to see if the rear window is different to support this or if you had it added, what did you do?

Thanks

Re: ***Envoy Spoiler***

Looks like it's just stuck on there to me. I haven't looked at one up close in person to know what's different. I doubt anything is different between a Blazer window and Envoy window. If you can find one you should be able to just swap them.

Re: ***Envoy Spoiler***

Doesn't the existing 3rd light just unbolt? I see them for sale all the time on ebay and looks like they have 2 bolts holding them on. I'm assuming the Envoy piece covers these or attaches via these holes. Got pics of it off the vehicle?

Yeah I know they come off, just wondering what kind of hole is under it. The Envoy cover deosnt cover it up. The whole Envoy spolier thing is on the window only.

depends if u have the liftgate or tailgate. if you have the tailgate the 3rd brake light is ontop of the window. all u do is take out the 2 bolts and cut off or grind of the 2 bumps. then attach envoy wing with double sided tape.

Re: ***Envoy Spoiler***

Here is the diagram of the spoiler from the GMC parts department that took them an hour to pull up.

It appears as though there are two notches on the very top of the liftgate to support the brake light ends (parts 2-3) which would go on top.

Also, my blazer, like any other, has a peice of trim around the entire window which includes at the very top. It looks like this could possibly be in the way.

Re: ***Envoy Spoiler***

3rd brake light attaches to the spoiler with 2 screws and the envoy has the trim around the rear glass as well. Use 3m tape to attach it to the window dont worry about those clips.

Wow, thanks a lot. I checked several used car parts websites and nothing ever came up. They just closed but I will give them a call tomorrow.

I really appreciate the lead!

No problem.

Another thing you can try at car-part.com is look for an Envoy bumper. That way you can find salvage yards that have an Envoy and then call them up and ask if they have the spoiler. I just did that and found about 25 nation wide.

i think the years made it different...my 98blazer liftgate is on the roof

Re: ***Envoy Spoiler***

I bought it off Ebay. from a broken back glass.
I took off my third light and grinded down the ruber mount level with the rest. cleaned off the four tabs on the back of the spoiler and mounted it. and the plug in is slightly diff. then how yours is, but when you see it, you will see what you need to change it, but no rewiring! now the roof and spoiler are black, don't have pics its covered in snow.

Anything else?

Hey Xenon, I don't know if you've tracked one down yet, but phatfarmer had an envoy he was using for parts for a project, and it had both the spoiler and the rear glass in good shape. You might wanna PM him if he's still got it.

This be it:

Re: ***Envoy Spoiler***

In case anyone is looking for a spoiler I found someone listing the rear glass of an Envoy. It has a picture of the spoiler on it. I am not sure whether or not this it included, but they say they have other parts for sale, so I'm sure you could shoot them a message and inquire if the spoiler is included or if it can be sold.

Oh okay, someone was just talking about doing 3m tape to attach it. I don't know how it would even fit over the trim around the windows without the spoiler. I'll have the glass attached to mine when I get it so I suppose I'll just use that one (hopefully it is mint) and sell my old one.
