Angry envoy hid crushed

So i was on my way home in my recently bought 99 envoy, i smoked a deer and my pass side headlight is gone, the ballast i guess is all smashed to shit. i have no idea how to replace this or where to get a new one. I have all the wiring bulbs etc from a s10 i was thinking maybe i could just use that harness and s10 headlights for awhile. . . any suggestions?

Re: envoy hid crushed

okay so i guess it might have been the ignitor thats smashed whatever it is that the bulb goes in. replacement parts are very expensive and some other threads say i can go with the 9005 kit and just follow my harness to where i can plug in the aftermarket kit, anyone know about this?

Re: envoy hid crushed

Wow...a set of headlights with ballasts on ebay went for just shy of $300 Sunday. I didn't get my expense check in time so I couldn't go that high.

basically just gotta unplug the whole ballast ignitor bulb and envoy light and remove them.

then get a set of sonoma lights and hook up the high and low beam bulbs along with the marker and corner lights.

cool thanks, do you know how far i will have to "dig" or how much stuff ill have to take apart, i figured besides the obvious (headlights grill etc) i might have to pull the bumper? i dont really know where exactly the wiring all goes to. . . a heads up would be cool so i dont have to freeze my balls off for to long

Re: envoy hid crushed

dont gotta pull the grille or the bumper off.

the factory plug that plugs into to ballast is the same plug that plugs into your low beam on a regular sonoma bulb

it should be pretty easy unless something was swapped or its a aftermarket hid setup

especially with the economy...yea, you should..might have to cut your losses...and just sell it for what someone says they'll give you, since i don't think the demand for a single headlight would be that high.

well except for maybe this one thread.

Re: envoy hid crushed

I dunno. The passenger light on ebay went for more than the drivers light. I'm guessing people tend to hit things on the passenger side more often and only needed the one light. I wanted the pair.

Re: envoy hid crushed

lol yea id buy it if it came with the box the bulb plugs into and it was A LOT cheaper lol. . .

oh and kris i followed the wire from the smashed bulb/box thing and what ever its hooked into seems like its mounted up in the bumper but maybe i can get to it from underneath. . . . havent had time to mess with it . . . .
