engine cutting out

just replaced a clogged fuel filter in my 97 jimmy. but it seems to still have a problem getting fuel. engine starts and idles fine. runs good for a couple mins.
but when i give her a little throttle it cuts out/ spits and sputters like the filter is clogged againcheck engine light just started flashing and stayed on seems to be getting progressively worse, fuel pump is only about a year old but it is an aftermarket and has a differant whine to it now
any suggestions?

Re: engine cutting out

I sure hope your tank is empty before you have to drop it to replace the pump.

Re: engine cutting out

get the code read and tell us what it is. While it very well may be the pump....it may not be.

Re: engine cutting out

doesn't sound like a fuel pump. Any one of those things could be the problem, however im leaning towards the MAP sensor only because a fualty MAF and O2 sensor aren't going to affect engine vacuum. This doesn' t mean that it couldn't be more than one thing. Start testing things.

pull the map sensor off and use a DVOM and vacuum pump to check the map sensor.

It may be running fine for several minutes while its on warm up. O2 sensors aren't functioning while the engine is cold as the computer runs in closed loop, im not positive but ithink the maf may work the same way DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, someone please correct me if im wrong, last thing i want is to spread incorrect info, its been a while and this stuff isn't real fresh in my brain.

Re: engine cutting out

ok replaced map sensor and plugs. cap wires rotor all that crap is fairly new even changed the ecm cause i had one laying around but i can barely make it out of the driveway now and it threw a code for a map high voltage and low voltage 02, fuel pump is sounding weird id like to check the pressure maybe i gonna have to break down and buy a gauge

Sounds like you may have a loose connection somewhere
