OK so whenever I start my truck in the morning, the engine fires up just fine, only there's a clicking noise at the same speed as the RPMs heard for about five seconds, then it goes away. The clicking seems to be coming from the left side of the engine block itself.. This only happens when I've left it alone for over two hours, and only under around 35 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm thinking it has something to do with the oil lines inside the engine block, there's a blockage somewhere and something's not getting lubed up for that five seconds.. Until the pressure pushes through. Cuz I have great oil pressure. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance . |

Re: Engine Clicks on Cold Start
what makes you think 5w30 wont work for an engine with 96k on it. yeah I have many vehicles with much more than 96k on running 5w30. did you check to see if the oil was within the operating level not overfilled |

Well, I tend to believe my dad on most points when it comes to vehicles, but apparently this shouldn't be one of them! So yea.. next oil change I'll try the 5w30. thanks. |

Re: Engine Clicks on Cold Start
damn, ur running 10w-40? wow u know what the oil cap says right! well i would say to use the specified oil or else u may have troubles down the road. But do u have an y oil leaks, especially from the cooler lines? because mine tends to do the same thing on cold starts.

Re: Engine Clicks on Cold Start
let your truck cool down to the clicking conditions
try popping the rad cap - is it retaining pressure? if not - i suspect there's a leak somewhere and the cooling pump is pumping air wild guess |
