electric problems HELP!!
Hi everybody!, English is not my language, but I'll try to explain what is my problem to see is somebody can help me. I have a Blazer LS 1996 and some days ago it began to have some electric problems. I would like to try to fix it by my own because i think that it is a small problem and my dealer is going to charge me a lot for nothing (as used to be here in Chile). Well, this is the problem:
First of all, I noticed that the underhood lamp was not working, the lamp was OK and the Fuse (3) was ok too. So i thought that it was a problem with the switch so i didn't worry about it. Some days after that, the lights of the instruments panel didn't turn on where I turn on the lights in the night, and the interior lights (clock, themperare meter, etc) didn't dim. I chech the fuses and I had the fuse (3) burned, I replaced it and everything was fine. A couple of weeks later, I left the blazer parked without starting it for 3 days and when I try to start it, it seems that the battery was dead. I made it start using another car. After some time charging the battery, I stopped the engine try to start it again and it didn't work. I started it again using other car and i noticed that the instrument panel lights didn't turn on but the other lights do dim when i turn the lights. I checked the fuses and all were ok. i stop the engine and it didn't start. So here is the strange part, I removed the fuse number 3 and tried to start the engine, and It STARTED!!! today in the morning to make it work I have to remove the fuse 3 again. Could anybody help me to find out whats going on here? Thanks!!! Pablo |

Re: electric problems HELP!!
Electrical problems always suck! Start simple cleaning the terminals and tightening all connections. Check all elect. plugs in engine and make sure they are fully seated. Sounds like either the alternator is going bad or you may have an ignition switch that is working only intermittently.

Re: electric problems HELP!!
Sorry guy i had to explain it in spanish just told him to check the grounds and make sure to check all wires need fuse box for any cut wires rubbing up against a ground. |

Re: electric problems HELP!!
thanks you for the help, i'm going to check all the cables. I don't know how I'm going to check the cables under the instrument panel. It seems to me that it is a little hard to dismount but I think that the problem is there.

Re: electric problems HELP!!
Not sure if you told him to clean the terminals and connections but it should be done first. Thanks for the translation.
