East Coast Customs Step Shaver Kit

Im thinking about getting a step shaver kit by east coast, Ive seen where people say that you do have to cut into the frame. Do you actually have to? Also, I do not have a trailer hitch. Also anyone who has them do you like it?

Re: East Coast Customs Step Shaver Kit

u do have to cut about 3" off the rear of the frame and last time i called them (ecc) they informed me that the company that makes them for them is probably goin to stop with the mini truck parts and focus more on the boat scene so just make sure u can get one still

SD sells them too, not sure what brand they are though, but they're abs.

To cure the hitch problem just unbolt it when you're not towing, that's the easiest fix.

**** it. If for some reason you need to put the bumper back on then just weld that piece back on. I'll end up removing all the plastic and shaving all the holes because of my gate not being lined up right.

Re: East Coast Customs Step Shaver Kit

SD kit is ECC

I had no reservations about cutting the frame, there is no way I would put it back to stock

IMO get a grant kustoms pan instead of the ECC one, the ECC's with the tag box are hideous

Re: East Coast Customs Step Shaver Kit

Yeah fiberglass pans are gay. Best way to do it though is use S-10 1/4's sectioned down and a grant compound curve pan.

I've decided I don't want to install mine, I like the way the stock one looks.

Re: East Coast Customs Step Shaver Kit

i have it.. and I'm happy with it for most part.. It doesn't line up 100% but im alright with that now. the Raw one(i dont have the link for it) is nicer from the pictures ive seen. Yes you have to cut 2 1/2"s back.

My only gripe, was getting rear ended last year and not having any real bumper. I think the damage would have been way less if i had a real bumper.

here is my first roll pan after my wreck..

here is my 2nd one after it got fixed..

If you do get it, make sure you install it FIRST before you paint it to make sure you get it all lined up. Do it with 2 people. Also, when trimming on the Drivers side of your frame, go easy.. Thats where the gas lines are.

I painted it first, and then installed it alone and it was really hard.

Best of luck and post pictures of it after you get it installed.
