Question Driver's side power window is defunct.

The driver's side window on my 97' blazer quit working a few days ago. I pulled the door panel to see if any connections had come loose. Everything looked fine. Is there a way to tell if the motor went bad, or if it's the switch? Thanks.

Nevermind, I went and bought a motor with the option of returning it, and it turns out that the motor was the problem. Thanks.

Very common problem with the gm motor is the overheat device built into the motor. After these age (and sometimes early) the motor will work a few inches then stop till it cools a little. This is also why some motors work when its cold out then crap out in the heat. They fail far more than the switches.

sometimes hitting the motor with a hammer will temporarily repair any loose connections, allowing you to close the window if it starts raining

Re: Driver's side power window is defunct.

you can replace the motor and the regulator or just the motor but if its the original you are still gonna have to remove the rivets from the regulator and take it out in order to get to the rivets on the motor so you canremove it from the regulator. hope this helps
