Differential cover
What size differential cover do I need to get for my 02 Blazer (was Xtreme, kits off)?
And is there an advantage to spending money on one... like the aluminum ones at Summit? I don't know shit about my differential, except that my cover is messed up. Also, changing one... what's the process? Just bolt on? I mean... I'm afraid of oil and what not |

Re: Differential cover
i believe if your looking at the cover from behind, a rounder shaped one is 7.5 and a little more squared is 8.5. mine is a 8.5 because its a 5spd. it talks about it a little in the 3/5 link how to on the home page of the forum. but why do you need a new one?

Re: Differential cover
Mine is rusted and looks like something hit it pretty hard... and I was interested in a chrome one.

Re: Differential cover
Thanks Ryan
![]() So, any reason to not get a chrome one and opt for an aluminum one? Don't really know what purpose the cover really serves |

Re: Differential cover
The diff. cover has many purposes. Prevent housing flex and cool the fluids. The f-body guys like to use TA diff. covers to help their 10-bolt last a little bit longer before upgrading to a 12-bolt or a nine inch. About the TA covers, they come in aluminum, adds strength to the case and provides support to the bearing caps.

Re: Differential cover
Spirited = ?
I launch from red lights... just a bad habit... don't know if you'd call that spirited driving |

Re: Differential cover
I would also try to find one with a drain plug and a fill plug. The original fill plug is so hard to get out and there is no drain plug. It would make it a lot easier to change your fluid.
