Diagnose intermittent combined ABS/Brake dash lights?

What kind of scanner is required, are there codes for this system like the OBD2 SES lights system?

Lately my lights have been coming on when starting the truck, but occasionally they don't come on, they only seem to trigger at start up, never while driving, even while on a 280 mile leg of a trip I took this weekend, lights stayed off, but right after filling up with gas, lights were on for the next leg of the trip...so I don't think it's a simple wheel sensor?

I had same problem it was the ABS module. I had mine rebuilt by

www.modulemaster.com

A specialscan yool can read the ABS tools, but generally if the red brake and yellow abs lights are on at the same time..I would lean towards the ABS module being bad. The above place did a great job for me...a new one is crazy expensive

that site and a place on ebay that offers a similar service, both say the rebuild is typically needed when the abs pump runs continuously, mine definitely doesn't do that, I've triggered the abs while offroading several times in the past so I'm familiar with how the motor sounds when operating and I've never heard that.
