Dexcool Vapor In The Cab...
I got a 2001 Blazer LS, And i have had alot of problems with my dexcool, its been in the shop 5 times, and i finally got a small local shop to fix it right, and just a couple of days ago i have been getting strong smells coming from the air vents of coolent even though the air/heat is not on, and i get this vapor or myst at the bottom on the inside window, that shouldnt be there which i assume is coolent vapors. The smell of coolent is very heavy. What is going on or what is wrong?

Re: Dexcool Vapor In The Cab...
So, after getting two new heater cores from the dealership, your saying i need to go get another one?
Dont let it be true!....but im starting to get sick from driving, i get dizzy and feel like im going to throw up, i need to get it fixed , but chevy will say there is nothing wrong, just like they did the last 5 times.Last edited by Crayola : 05-07-2004 at 12:51 AM. |

Re: Dexcool Vapor In The Cab...
You have a history of Dexcool problems & its the only way to get it into the cab, unless its a bad connection somwhere. Do some research on the internet. there are lots of Dexcool sites. It may need to be higher up the chain at Chevrolet (look in your owners manual). I call the 800 number whenever something weird or strange happens to my truck - that way its identified and I have a record of the problem in case of a recall.
My 01 has almost 60k on it and I worry about the Dexcool problems that I've read about. |

I agree - heater core. Have no idea how your's go bad so fast. And I think once the vapors are inside the cab there is no way to cure it.

Re: Dexcool Vapor In The Cab...
I'd get an acid flush and put the green stuff back in it. Do an internet search on Dexcool problems and you will find that there are an abundance of them. I had mine flushed in the fall because there have been so many problems with dexcool. From the research that I have done, it creates like a mud in your radiator and may be the cause of the smell. I asked the dealership about this before I had it flushed out and they agreed that there were problems with dexcool, but they said that it was mainly with the 95 and 96 blazers. I have a 99, but I didn't want to take any chances. Just do some research because that may be the problem. Also, if you go to Blazinlow.com, there was a thread on this very subject. You might find some useful info.
