DERM Code B1042

I had my Jimmy in for something today and they said they got this..

"Performed Diagnostic test. Found Code B1042. Performed fault tree test and found DERM module signal fading in and out. Needs Air Bag Module Replaced." I am assuming this is the DERM itself in the right kick panel? Is this something that can safely be switched out with a salvaged one from a non-deployed airbag system?

Here in NY its against the law to install used airbag components. Usually used modules wont work anyway.
