Couple problems with 99 Blazer, any insight is appreciated

Alright, got a couple issues with the blazer, and looking to get them resolved. Never was taught much about cars, and dont have the money to go have a mechanic rip me off.

First up, 4WD Wont engage. I'm assuming the cable is seized from lack of use over the last almost 10yrs.

Secondly, my lights (headlights, tail lights, and all interior lights) fade in and out, dimmer and brighter. I'm thinking its the alternator getting to the end of its charge, but i cant see why it would just go in and out like that? Its done this for a while, but still runs and has no other problems.

Thirdly, my drivers side rearview mirror is LEAKING. It looks terrible, i go to inspect further, and threres green goop leaking out of the bottom. I cant see out of it anymore, and i'm assuming the green junk is the stuff that at night prevents you from going blind....

Aside from that, i have little things to fix up that are annoying me, but i'd like to get these ones worked out first.

Thanks in Advance.

never heard of a green goop either. is it your driver outside mirror or the rear view mirror on the inside? couldnt really tell from what you said.

i didnt think that the outside mirrors had any night darkening thing on them, only the inside rear view.

but if something is wrong with it, you'll just have to replace it.

the envoy has the driver's side mirror that darkens...
mine stopped working long ago...

4x4 is electronic, pop the dash out, it's an easy change if the switch is the probelm

the parking brake is the one that seizes, so either use it daily, or don't use it at all...
