Co workers truck needs a part.

Ok so my Parts managers truck wont go into 4wd. Its a 2002 blazer, 4.3 auto. with the push button 4wd. I pulled the code and its telling me its the 4wd moduel that costs like 400$ our cost. Is there any way around replacing this module? Jumping terminals to give something a ground or power if it needs it, or something that can make it go into 4wd when it needs to without having to dish out 400$ for a new one.

Also we were wondering since I'm new to these trucks and hes not exactly a tech, if this is a pretty common problem with these trucks.

Re: Co workers truck needs a part.

um, ive never seen one of these fail all by itself, its usually the damn t-case motor drawing to much current, and overloading the module. heres what to do, look where the motor bolts on to the t-case, there is a gasket, if its all crusty there, then the motor bearing is crusty, and its taking too much juice to turn it...... replace the motor first.. 9 out of 10 times..... also, after you change the motor, make sure you disconnect the battery, and brain dead the whole system......
