The 98+ blazers have a different suspension setup. If you plan on lowering the 98+ drop spindles are $280 a pair unlike the $150 a pair for the older models. I believe this is because they have a heavier duty suspension and bigger brakes. Also most newer trucks have 4wheel disc brakes. My '01 has them and I love them.

The '98 Jimmy's and up are better than the 95-97. They have less problems since they are the updated 2nd Gen. with most of the problems solved. Try to buy one with less than 60G miles..around 100,000kms, that's when the trouble start, just like most new vehicles.
We have a '98 and through 4 years we've had 2 O2 sensors go, the speed sensor (tranny/computer problem), and we replaced the alt. Those have been our only problems, beside some brake problem which was fixed by the deal when we first bought it. The styling on '98+ is better also, and the overall reliability is better. One with less mileage and less repairs is sometimes better. Sometimes one with the bigger repairs is better, cuz it's been replaced already so you don't have to worry about it. But due to this vehicles and like many others, when you notice lots of problems it usually means their a lemon, so be careful looking for a newer one and buying it private. If you "buy" not lease, a new one from the dealer and want it paid off in 4 years, it's 900CAN a month for us, so around 700US a month, so I'm not too sure what kinda price you're looking at. But also we got top of the line 4x4, so the price adds up quickly. Good luck on finding one you like, and is in your price range. Nate |
