Re: bogging

The catalytic converter in my 98 4x4 4 door went out a few months ago. It was rattling like crazy, but there wasn't any really noticeable decrease in performance, aside from a mpg or two.

I put a piece of straight pipe in and it goes like a bat outta hell. I eventually put a new cat in to stop it from throwing codes. Noticeable difference but runs good and gets around 21 mpg average.

Re: bogging

i had a very similar problem, mine always wanted to stall out when i was at lights or stopped. the problem was the EGR valve had carbon built up in it. i replaced the EGR valve and it ran awesome after. maybe thats your problem?

Re: bogging

Did yours bogg down while driving say on the interstate? That's what mine was doing I thought it was spark so I checked my plugs and they where in really bad shape so I replaced the and the cap rotor and wires. Went to start it back up and nothing, Checked all the work I'd done nothing, Check fuel pressure and got none and I could not here the pump running, so if you have a guage check for fuel pressure at least check to see if you can hear the pump running. The pump cost $218 at advance auto. You can't get just the pump you have to buy the whole assy. My 4 door was actually easy to get to but I think the 2 door version is a little harder to get to I no my wife's 95 was a pain.

Re: bogging

SES only flashes for a misfire, get the codes scanned, might help diagnose it.
